The Grand Theater, one of Downtown Grand Island's pillars, has generously offered to donate concessions proceeds from the July 17-19 showing of "Love & Mercy," a critically-acclaimed biopic of Brian Wilson the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys.
In many ways, the Grand Theater has set the example of preservation, restoration and enhancement of a historic landmark in Downtown Grand Island. Looking to their model as a template, the Liederkranz could one day return to its former glory, which is the whole point of the raising funds via the Craft Brew & Sausage Fest. Which is why we are so thankful for the Grand's support in donating concession proceeds of "Love & Mercy" to help with initial event costs.
Starring John Cusack and Paul Dano respectively as Brian Wilson old and young, the film also features Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, and is set against the era-defining catalog of Wilson’s music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost. So visit the Grand July 17-19 (and buy lots from the concessions). Movie times begin at 7:15 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.
